Established in 1985, Datec has 40 years' experience in PNG and has a diverse client base covering Government, Corporate, Mining, Gas & Oil, Financials, SME, NGOs, Education, Health Care, Wholesale, Retail, Media, etc.
Datec operations in PNG has driven success by a long-term commitment to develop long-term partnerships with our customers to leverage their past, current, and future IT investments along with strategic alliances with industry giants such as IBM, HP, HPE, Lenovo, Dell, Microsoft, Oracle, Canon, EATON, NUTANIX, CISCO, FORTINET, etc.
Currently Datec employs over 220 staff in sales, technical and support roles in offices located in PNG. Datec operates out of Port Moresby and has regional sales outlets at Lae, Goroka, Mt. Hagen, Madang, Kokopo and Alotau.
Datec has implemented a Total Quality Management System built around its focus on Customer Service, its people, standardised high-quality work practices and a system for continuous quality improvement.
In 2000, Datec was formally recognized as a quality organization with the ISO 9001:2000 certification - a feat no other IT company has achieved in PMG. Datec earned ISO 9001:2008 in March 2010 and has been audited and registered annually by DMV-GL, Australia.
In 2017, Datec made a successful transition to the ISO9001:2015 certification after a comprehensive quality audit conducted by DMV-GL a quality certification and accreditation body. As an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Company, Datec systematically monitors its quality through customer feedback, individual self-assessment, regular management reviews, risk based and an annual quality assessment. There is a focus on risk-based thinking and accountability in all organisational processes that helps improve communications, efficiency, and implementation of continuous improvement. We constantly refine our processes, maintaining our commitment to the ongoing improvement of Datec's operations and services.
In 2021, Datec achieved a further milestone in its Quality journey being the first company in PMG to achieve ISO 27001:2013 certification for Information Security. To be ISO 27001 certified shows that Datec fulfils the very high information security standard regarding confidentiality, integrity and availability. This certification demonstrates that Datec live up to the laws and demands of the data protection regulations. The certificate applies to both the Datec operations and Data Center.
