Datec will respond within a reasonable period after a question, comment or complaint is received.
Anonymity and Pseudonymity
Where it is lawful or practical, individuals dealing with Datec will be given the option of not identifying themselves, or of using a nickname, when dealing with Datec.
Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal or Sensitive Information
Only personal information that are relevant to the work of Datec are collected and stored. The information required may include your name, address, telephone number, email address, bank account or credit card details and your Datec Constituent ID number. Apart from the information given to financial institutions required for normal bank processing, personal details of customers remain confidential. From time to time the Papua New Guinea government authorities may require Datec to disclose information as required by law.
The information is only used to process business transactions, issue receipts and manage contacts by Datec staff and representatives. Datec may only use personal information about you for direct marketing only when expressed consent is given by you. From time to time we may send you updates and information. Please contact Datec if you do not wish to receive them.
Datec will not collect sensitive information about you unless you have consented to the collection of that information; or the collection is required or authorised by or under a Papua New Guinea law or a court/tribunal order; or there are some special situations under the law that allow the use or disclosure of sensitive information.
Mailing lists of customers or other contacts are never sold, rented or exchanged to third parties.
Data Quality, Security and Handling
After being advised of any change, personal details that are recorded by Datec are updated as soon as possible. To assist in keeping your information accurate, please advise us if there are any errors or changes in your personal information. You can also subscribe/unsubscribe for our e-communications at any time.
All reasonable steps are taken to protect the personal information Datec holds from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Datec will take all reasonable steps to destroy unsolicited personal information.
Cross Borders Data Flows
Occasionally, Datec may transfer personal information to an organisation (other than Datec’s overseas partner, affiliates or the individual concerned) that is in a foreign country or, Datec may store some personal information on databases that are in the cloud. In these cases, all reasonable steps shall be taken to ensure the personal information are de-identified and that the transferred information, will not be held, used or disclosed by the recipient organisation inconsistently.
